GrowEconomy is a 36-month project led by ACTED in partnership with Action Against Hunger, Terre des hommes, Phenix Centre for Sustainable Development, ECO Consult and the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature, in coordination with the National Agricultural Research Center. The project works to strengthen the economic empowerment and labour rights of Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians working in agriculture across Ajloun, Irbid, Madaba and Balqa governorates.
The project aims to improve working conditions in the sector and help farming households and agricultural workers build stable, year-round incomes that are more resilient to climate change and unexpected shocks. It does so by supporting small farmers to adopt sustainable practices, improving the employability and income stability of agricultural labourers, and connecting small farmers to markets to expand livelihood opportunities within host communities.
As a partner in GrowEconomy, ECO Consult supports interventions that encourage the adoption of climate-adaptive, regenerative and agro-ecological farming techniques, enhance the skills and year-round employability of agricultural workers, and strengthen market linkages for small farmers. The project targets:
- 612 small farming households supported to adopt climate-adaptive, regenerative and agro-ecological farming techniques
- 1,619 agricultural labourers supported to improve their employability and access to year-round income
- 428 small farmers engaged in market networking sessions to build business connections and access new market opportunities
Through this integrated approach, GrowEconomy contributes to a more resilient, productive and inclusive agriculture sector, where farmers adopt sustainable practices and workers benefit from decent, stable employment.
